The Briar Patch Story

Briar Patch Corner was founded by Dawn Sanquist Anderson.  She began daycare in her home as a young mother to be able to stay with her sons, Brandon and Jordan.  After completing her Child Development Associate Credential, she worked as a preschool teacher for a few years. Dawn saw the need in the Park Rapids community for a learning environment that focused on a well-rounded academic program.  She wanted a creative, fun, inviting, and loving place for children to explore and learn in.  The doors to Briar Patch Corner Childcare Center opened in January 2007.  Dawn made it her priority to find quality, trained teachers to help carry out her dream.

Dawn was the director of the Early Childhood Initiative in Park Rapids.  She was very involved in the community, creating learning opportunities for other caregivers in the area, as well as an active member in her church and a participant in the Rotary.  Her contributions to this community were many and valuable.

When Dawn passed away in March 2011, Melissa Sanquist and Tiffany Deshayes stepped in to help continue the amazing place Dawn created.  The values Dawn believed in continue to be the foundation of the center today.
